Last Sunday’s Red Bull Music-presented Beats From The Lido and performances by Anthony Naples and Young Marco closed the second edition of VIVA! Festival, ITALIA’18, which from 4th to 8th July, thanks to the renovated synergy between Turnè and Xplosiva as well as support from prestigious brands (starting from Official Partner Audi) have drawn to Valle d’Itria over 20.000 people from all Italy and abroad (with an international audience of 1.500) to witness 37 acts (50% more than in 2017).
Over 67 artists – amongst the most important artists in the international avant-pop scene – hailing from 11 different countries gave life to an innovative event with strong roots in one of the most fascinating areas in Italy, Valle d’Itria.
The success of this 2nd edition was also possible thanks to new programme features introduced in 2018, such as a bigger Arena featuring a second stage, entirely dedicated to Boiler Room, and the interaction with the valley’s municipalities and their spectacular locations, as represented by Audi Connect Lights: on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th the evocative #untaggable laser installation united the main municipalities involved (Locorotondo, Cisternino, Martina Franca). These towns also hosted Molinari Extra Moment, a cycle of public talks about music curated by Carlo Pastore, which offered contents, considerations and debates featuring worldwide-renowned artists and professionals.
Among the higlights of this first edition is the sold-out show from Jamie xx on Thursday 5th July, third and final date of his Ma Ogni Giorno Il Sole Tramonta tour in historical locations of Southern Italy after Palermo and Matera; the new a/v show from anonymous Italian pop giant Liberato and disco duo Nu Guinea – both representing the new Naples scene; the presence of The Black Madonna and the punk attitude of Arca; explosive live shows from Iceage and Sampha at Arena Valle d’Itria; Boiler Room’s live stream of its own stage at Arena, which totalled over 1.000.000 views from all around the world in 48h; the unforgettable performance by Francesco Tristano at dawn at Archeolido, near the archaelogical site of Egnazia, which followed the Unusual VIVA! Breakfast by Lavazza. A success made possible by precious contributions from partners such as Audi, Red Bull, Lavazza, Molinari, Absolut, Intesa San Paolo, Banco di Napoli, Cantine di San Marzano, Puglia Promozione, Regione Puglia, Puglia Sounds and the municipalities of Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ostuni, Fasano and Alberobello.
