OGR Soundsystem #3

OGR – Officine Grandi Riparazioni di Torino have developed in collaboration with Club To Club Festival, a new monthly series of music events: OGR SoundSystem.

For one Saturday every month, the stage inside Sala Fucine will transform in a platform for audiovisual experimentation, excellent collaborations and new productions by rising stars of the local, national and international electronic and avant-pop scene. Framing the event is a unique venue, OGR, a fascinating and recently renovated industrial space which has become over few months a reference point for art and music, exploring boundaries and avant-garde.

After the first two edition’s success OGR Sounssystem comes back on Saturday 12th May with Forte Movimento Accelerazionista within the event series “Forte Movimento” with Amnesia Scanner, Lotic, Mana and Spime.IM.

Forte movimento is a new musical events series curated by the artistic director Nicola Ricciardi and  the director of “Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino” Nicola Lagioia. Taking place from 10 to 13 May, it’s an homage to Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino, to its themes and its audience, and whose title recalls the novel of the same name by Jonathan Franzen, one among the greater contemporary writers. The program tent to offer a overview above the relation between tests and sounds, proving the OGR’s multi-disciplinary approach and the choice of hybridization languages trough the local realities.

Amnesia Scanner are a Berlin-based Finnish duo who create cryptic, deconstructed electronic music using a variety of sampled sources. Tracks by the mysterious Amnesia Scanner began appearing online around 2014, filled with discordant synth tones and fragmented voices. They described themselves as “Xperienz Designers“: their sound is both brutal and futuristic, as the one of the 2016 six-track EP ‘AS’, out on Young Turks. In 2018 they came back with an exciting track featuring Pan Daijin published by PAN.

Lotic is DJ and producer J’Kerian Morgan. Raised in Houston, Texas and now operating out of Berlin, Morgan is a resident at the city’s famed Janus parties and in recent years has evolved into one of the most original voices of Berlin’s club life. Having featured on Björk’s recent sit-in for Rinse FM alongside a flurry of press attention, the stereotype-baiting producer’s first official outing, 2015’s ‘Heterocetera’ EP on Tri Angle, is undeniably worthy of the hype. Her sound is an apocalyptic mix of haunting synth melodies, destructive beats, and skewed experimental electronica. After the acclaimed debut album Lotic published in 2018 the single “Hunted” always on Tri Angle.

Mana is producer and composer Daniele Mana from Torino in Italy. Since 2010 he has been releasing under the moniker Vaghe Stelle, with EPs and two full length albums on labels such as Gang of Ducks, Aisha Devi’s Danse Noire, Astro:Dynamics and most recently, Nicolas Jaar’s Other People records. He is also a member of One Circle with Lorenzo Senni and Francesco Fantini. His new EP ‘Creature‘ is released on Kode9’s Hyperdub label. Over eight tracks, he ingests Shostakovitch, Drexciya, Darkthrone, Frank Ocean and Paul Lansky, and refashions them into an almost operatic record – a rich, melodrama of dark tension and excitable in-your-face synth melodies.

Spime.IM is a collection of thoughts, theories and concepts, conveyed through immersive audio-video experiences and worlds in which sound and image become one single entity.  SPIME.IM creates collective experiences of virtual and altered reality, offering the possibility to dive into parallel dimensions, in order to experience the self-knowledge consciousness and to discover everything that is invisible to our eyes but that surrounds and affect us.
