The stage of OGR Torino will warm up during Turin Contemporary Art Week: from November 4th to 7th, the German electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk will bring to OGR as an Italian preview their 3D concert series The Catalogue – 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.
The Catalogue – 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 is a chronological journey through the artistic and chronological path of Kraftwerk, from Autobahn to Tour de France. Combining sound and images, the performances showcase more than four decades of musical and technical innovation, including new improvisations, 3D projections and animation. Commencing with Autobahn, each night covers two of Kraftwerk’s groundbreaking studio albums in full and appear in order of their release alongside additional compositions from their back catalogue.
The multimedia project Kraftwerk was founded in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider and immediately stood out for their originality and ability to open a new path in electronic music matching it with other contemporary disciplines, such as art and design. Kraftwerk are an endless source of inspiration for a wide range of musical genres: from Electro to Hip Hop, from Techno to SynthPop.
Their first retrospective was held in 2012 in New York at Museum of Modern Art. From that event, several performances of The Catalogue – 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 have followed in the most prestigious venues: Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf, Turbine Hall at London Tate Modern, Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo, Sidney Opera House, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Burgtheater in Wien, Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin.and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. To these institutions they now add OGR Torino.
