Jolly Mare is the discographic project by Fabrizio Martina, gaining respect in the international electronic scene thanks to his reworking of Italian-flavored disco and boogie.
Discovered by Gilles Peterson, who fell in love with his “Riviera Hotel”, he published in 2016 the debut album “Mechanics” for Bastard Jazz Recordings U.S. The record boasts the support of Soul Clap, Rob da Bank, Alexander Barck (Jazzanova) and Tom Middleton, who defined it as “New Italo Disco and Tech Funk Maestro”. The album critics and audience acclaim, being selected by the Independent Music Company Association in Europe as one of the 25 best albums of the year, along with works by Blood Orange, Radiohead and Danny Brown.
His wide stylistic choices and the refined references to other ages make it one of the most interesting musicians in the Italian landscape, bringing him to perform at important international festivals. Former alumni of the Red Bull Music Academy, he had the honor to perform along Roy Ayers at the opening set of the celebration marking the 20th year of Masters At Work. He collaborated with honored musicians like Thundercat (Flying Lotus’s bassist) and Roy Paci.
